Income/expense August 2018

My spending for August was more or less average. Compared to last month it was a great improvement.

Expenses:  12 940 SEK
Income:  32 300 SEK
Savings rate: 59.94 %
Dividend/Expense rate: 7.35 %

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page.

Goal November

So I've managed to workout six times each week for both September and more or less also in October. I was on a trip so I missed some days. It's a nice habit and I've increase my endurance and strength quite a bit. I've been starting slow and so far it feels like my body is keeping up with the increase workouts.

For November my goal is to meditate 10 minutes each day. I've been reading up a bit on easy way to improve ones life and the top tips seems to be workout, sleep good, mediate and fast. I'm thinking about starting with intermittent fasting, but as long as I train as much I think it will be too tough.

I'm also going to get back to the blog. I've had a bit too much on my mind.

Goal November: Meditate for 10 minutes each day.
Goal October: - Failed!
Goal September: Workout six times each week. Done!
Goal August: Clean my home 10 minutes each day. Failed!
Goal July: Eat less sugar. Done!
Goal June: Spend time/talk to a friend each day outside of work. Done!
Goal May: Get up at six every morning. Done!
Goal April: Read at least four books during the month. Done!
Goal March: Walk at least 10 000 steps each day. Failed!
Goal February: Practice at least ten minutes of yoga each day. Done!
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food. Done!

    Monthly goal September

I started the month by cleaning every day, probably more than 10 minutes. My apartment was spotless, but then I lost my motivation. It is not as fun to clean when there is no dirt. So now I have a dirty apartment again.

For September I am going to try to workout aix times each week. During August I've done that so it should be possible.

Goal September: Workout six times each week.
Goal August: Clean my home 10 minutes each day. Failed!
Goal July: Eat less sugar. Done!
Goal June: Spend time/talk to a friend each day outside of work. Done!

    New purchases August 2018 I

I've made some new purchases. I've bought some 3M the innovative conglomerate. I've been thinking about buying it for a long time but have not gotten to it until now.
    • 3 MMM for $ 205.86 per share for a yield of 2.64 %.
    • 4 JNJ for $ 131.3 per share for a yield of 2.74 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Income/expense July 2018

So my prediction from last month about my spending was correct. Since I've started keeping track of exactly how much I spend every month this is the most. So much that I actually spent more money than I earned. However my vacation was awesome and I regret nothing. One lesson that I can learn from this is to plan my vacation in more detail. One reason that I spend this much money is that I hadn't bough a return ticket and ended up paying a bit to much to get home.

    Expenses:  34 180 SEK
    Income:  32 300 SEK
    Savings rate: -5.82 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 3.56 %

    Monthly goal August

I haven't really missed sugar that much. It has been so warm where I've been during this month so I've basically haven't really felt like eating anything. I've eaten more fruit though and it has been really good. Peaches and plums are really amazing. I've also spend time with friends and family every day this month, but that's because I've been traveling around visiting them.

My goal for August is to clean my home ten minutes each day. I've been reading some easy tips on how to improve ones life and this was one of the top tips so I decided to try it. Hopefully I will also live in a cleaner home.

Goal August: Clean my home 10 minutes each day.
Done!

    Dividend July 2018

I've been having an offline month, mostly without internet access during my vacation. It has been really nice, but that has impacted my investing and blogging a bit. Anyhow these are the dividends I received in July.

    • SRET 33.2 SEK

    • GE 47.26 SEK
    • TROW 50.34 SEK

For a total of 1216.72 SEK. Compared to last year the increase was around 230 %. I was actually expecting to get less money than I got in June, so I guess I have some error in my spreadsheets. But more money is always good news.

    New purchases July 2018 II

To celebrate my vaccation I've bought some more stocks. Viva la France! Red wine and cheese. Compared to a normal month it feels like I'm bleeding money.
    • 20 T for $ 32.31 for a yield of 6.19 %.
    • 5 SO for $ 47.23 for a yield of 5.01 %.
    • 5 O for $ 55.26 for a yield of 4.77 %.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here. It is still broken, but pretty accurate.

My goal of eating less sugar has gone as planned. It might be that I've just substituted it with nice meals and wine, but vaccation is vaccation.

    New purchase July 2018

I've made some new purchases. This is my first day of vacation so I will be a bit more brief.
    • 9 Telenor for 171.05 NOK for a yield of 4.56 %.
    • 10 Equinor for 215 NOK for a yield of 3.48 %.
Then the spin off of Veoneer from Autoliv has been completed. I received 5 shares each worth 357 SEK. During the first dags of trading it has gone up around 15 %.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here. Note: Im unable to get stock prices from Swedish, Finish and Norwegian stocks so the speadsheet is a bit broken.

    Monthly goal July 2018

My goal of spending more time with friends have been fun. Basically the changes I've made is calling some old friends that I haven't talked to in a while and also taking two trips visiting friends. In June I'm having a vacation and then this will automatically also be done because I'm planning on staying a week at my parents place and then travel with friends. I've also continued with getting up at six on weekday mornings. I haven't really been as productive as in May, but I've managed to still be the first one in the office.

For July I'm going to reduce my refined sugar intake. Basically I'm putting a ban on spending for items with added sugar. So no soda, candy and cookies. I used to live like this when I was a student and didn't really miss sugar then. For me it is really easy to get in to the habit of eating candy and it doesn't feel good. In a way I think it might some sort of self-medication for feeling lonely, but is not a long term solution for anything.

    Goal July: Eat less sugar.
Done!

    Income/expense June 2018

I'm about to go on vacation and that has made my spending this month a bit higher than normal, but I've managed to go on two weekend trips and also book a flight back home to my dear parents. I also suspect that my spending in July is going to be significantly higher than normal.

    Expenses: 14 600 SEK
    Income:  35 800 SEK
    Savings rate: 59.22 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 8.04 %

Compared to last June I've doubled my dividend/expense rate even though I spend almost 70 % more. This is the first month of 2018 where I have a savings rate below 60 %.

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page.

    Dividend June 2018

These are the dividends I received in June.
    • SDIV 34.47 SEK
    • SRET 33 SEK
    • SPFF 58.78 SEK
    • SDEM 117.38 SEK
    • ED 37.92 SEK
    • ADM 29.26 SEK
    • EMR 41.89 SEK
    • JNJ 38.86 SEK
    • TGT 107.09 SEK
    • MCD 45.06 SEK
    • SO 52.03 SEK
    • O 65.96 SEK
    • PFE 29.83 SEK
    • INTC 39.47 SEK
    • WFC 20.53 SEK
    • KHC 93.91 SEK
    • AFL 27.37 SEK
    • VFC 36.94 SEK
    • UN01 150.81 SEK
    • BAYN 54 SEK
    • ALIV-SDB 27.28 SEK
    • ALA 61.19 SEK
    • EIF 30.59 SEK
    • AD 40.74 SEK
24 different companies paid me dividends for a total of 1174.36 SEK. Compared to last year the increase was around 280 %. When I look at the year of year increases they are great, but I'm contributing a lot of cash every month. Over time I hope that reinvested dividends will make up a ever larger portion of my monthly contributions.

Autoliv has also completed (technically on trading starts on the second of June) its spin-off of its electronic part into Veoneer. I'm a strong believer of automated vehicles and Veoneer is a big player on that market. Concerning dividends I'm not really sure how I will be affected. Veoneer has not announced that they will pay any dividend, but I haven't found any information regarding Autolivs future dividends.

    New purchase June 2018 III

I've made some new purchase and I'm a bit ashamed to say that I made a mistake and sold 10 shares of T for $ 31.7. I like that I can purchase stocks on my phone, but it is a bit too easy to make mistakes. Anyhow, one new company Hormel.
    • 15 HRL for $ 36.53 for a yield of 2.06 %.
    • 10 KO for $ 43.53 for a yield of 3.58 %.
    • 4 MO for $ 56.97 for a yield of 4.91 %.
    • 15 GE for $ 12.79 for a yield of 3.75 %.
My goal of spending time with friends every day has gone great. I'v met some new friends and also found some colleagues that share a lot of the same interest as me. So we've been on a hike and also practiced some swimming in the ocean.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    New purchase June 2018 II

I've some more stocks. Mostly companies that make consumer products in the US and a mix between finance and automotive in Germany.
    • 3 KMB for $ 100.56 for a yield of 3.98 %.
    • 4 PG for $ 75.72 for a yield of 3.79 %.
    • 5 DAI for 62.78 € for a yield of 5.91 %.
    • 28 DBK for 9.3955 € for a yield of 1.16 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Tuesday, June 12, 2018

    New purchase June 2018 I

I've bought some more Canadian stocks.
    • 5 BNS for 75.71 CAD for a yield of 4.33 %.
    • 7 EIF for 33.80 CAD for a yield of 6.48 %.
    • 15 GEI for 17.52 CAD for a yield of 7.53 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here. Note: I found an error in my projected dividends. I had more or less completely missed to summaries the dividends from January. That was a nice $ 100 increase.

Apart from my goal to met 8 out of 12 of my monthly goal I also have a financial goal which is to have 24 000 SEK in projected dividend. I'm at 18 800 now and with 6 month more of investing I should reach it.

    Monthly goal June 2018

I've actually been enjoying getting up earlier. It has freed up time to read, study, keep my apartment nicer and going to work earlier. It has been great weather where I'm living so that might have played some part in this. It is probably going to be harder in the winter when it rains side ways and the temperature drops below zero. The extra time has freed up time so I've read some books, but I didn't manage to read as many as four.

For June my goal is to spend some time with a friend every day. I'm going to count talking to them on the phone as spending time as well. In a way I've been feeling a bit lonely ever since my ex-girlfriend broke up with me about a year ago. During that time a lot of my friends have been getting their first children so it has not been possible to see them as much I used to. Unfortunately I didn't decide on a goal before the month started so that's why I chose this. I'm going to try to decide on what to do before the month starts.

Goal June: Spend time/talk to a friend each day outside of work.
Done!

    Income/expense May 2018

As in April I got sizable dividend in May as well.

    Expenses: 11 100 SEK
    Income:  32 300 SEK
    Savings rate: 65,53 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 19,83 %

I've been making some projections based on my lowest, median, average and maximum expenses with a couple of different safe withdrawal rate (3.5 % to 4.5 %) and I've come up with a range of savings I need in order to be able to not work any more. The range is 2 300 000 SEK to 11 000 000 SEK. The numbers come from lowest expenses and highest withdrawal rate and the highest  expenses and lowest withdrawal rate. The range for median and average is probably more realistic 3 100 000 SEK to 5 100 000 SEK.

I haven't really written about my net worth here before, basically because I've no good way of presenting it. I'm working on it. At the moment I've got about 1 700 000 SEK invested about half of which in retirement accounts that I cannot access before I turn 55 (about twenty years). By just assuming that the value of my portfolio will be constant it will take about five years of contribution to reach that point.

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page.

    New purchase May 2018 IV

I've bought two new insurance companies. The giant Allianz and the much smaller, but still big in Norway, Gjensidige. In addition I also invested in the telephone company Telia.
    • 60 STO:TELIA for 41.93 SEK for a yield of 5,48 %.
    • 3 ETR:ALV for € 188.59 for a yield of 4.24 %.
    • 37 OSE:GJF for 127.12 NOK for a yield of 5.56 %.

    New purchase May 2018 III

I've made some new purchase. I basically just increased my position in the stocks that I'm least invested in.
    • 8 PFE for $ 35.92 for a yield of 3.78 %.
    • 5 WFC for $ 55.82 for a yield of 2.79 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

My goal of getting up early in the morning has worked fine. I might be a bit more tired, but I get a lot of things done.

    Saturday, May 12, 2018

    New purchase May 2018 II

I've reinvested in some Swedish companies.
    • 15 HB-B for 145.24 SEK for a yield of 6.71 %.
    • 5 INVE-B for 382.6 SEK for a yield of 3.14 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

Apart from that life is pretty sweet right now. The weather is nice, I have a good work-life balance and is learning new things. A lot better than about a year ago when I got my heart broken. I guess I haven't fully recovered from that yet, but it is getting better and better.

    Saturday, May 5, 2018

    New purchase May 2018 I

New month and some new purchases. No new companies though.
    • 10 T for $ 32.4 for a yield of 6.17 %.
    • 10 SECU-B for 142 SEK for a yield of 2.82 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

I actually had a hard time coming up with a goal for this month, so I just took something that I had already done the first days. It hasn't really been a burden for me and it has been nice to have some extra time in the morning before going to work. I've spent the time reading :) and I also entered in to an online course. It is not really related to what I work with but I like learning new things.

    Wednesday, May 2, 2018

    Monthly goal May 2018

For May I'm going to increase the amount of time I have for doing things for me before going to work by getting up earlier. I usually have a hard time of getting up, but now I'm going to try to change that part of my life. This will be limited to work days.

I managed to read four books in April. It was fun and I've already gone to the library and borrowed more books for this month. I actually continued walking around 10 000 steps for a big part of the month, but then I good sick for a week and haven't really recovered yet.

Goal May: Get up at six every morning.
Goal April: Read at least four books during the month. Done!
Goal March: Walk at least 10 000 steps each day. Failed!
Goal February: Practice at least ten minutes of yoga each day. Done!
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food. Done!

    Income/expense April 2018

With the great dividend for April I got a record high dividend/expense rate. I was not really expecting it to be so high, but now it actually feels like there is a possibility that I will receive enough money in dividends to be able to retire in the not so distant future.

    Expenses: 11 040 SEK
    Income:  36 060 SEK
    Savings rate: 69.38 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 23.26 %

    Dividend April 2018

New record! I crushed the previous record from March. I expect this to be the best month for this year, May might be close but I don't think that any of the other months will be close. This is mainly due to my European stocks that usually pay their dividends annually.

Compared to last year I received almost 360 % more. The dividends I received follows:
    • SDIV 31 SEK
    • SRET 31.4 SEK

    • SDEM 17.03 SEK
    • KO 32.73 SEK

I've made a last purchase for April.
    • 2 MUV2 for 189.4 € for a yield of 4.54 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

I've reached my goal of reading four books in April today. A good side effect of this is that I've started going to my local library It is actually a nice environment. Peace and quiet, a lot of books and magazines and old people playing chess.

    Friday, April 20, 2018

    New purchase April 2018 IV

I've made some new purchases. PM made a sharp drop so I decided to pick up some more of them.
    • 14 Industrivärden for 186.55 SEK for a yield of 2.95 %.
    • 3 PEP for $102.54 for a yield of 3.14 %.

    • 4 Sampo for 43.4 € for a yield of 5.99 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

I am a bit half way to reach my goal for the month. Two finished books and half way into my third. I enjoy reading books, but in the long run I think that it will be hard to read a book a week.

    New purchase April 2018 II

I've continued this month with reinvesting dividend. This time with Daimler.
    • 5 Daimler for 65.54 € for a yield of 5.56 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

For my monthly goal I'm a bit behind. I've finished one book and read a couple of chapters in two others. I have no real worries that I will not be able to make it. It is more a question of determination.

    New purchase April 2018 I

I've reinvested some dividend and then some. With a lot of European stocks paying their dividend during the spring I'm going to focus on that part of the world for some time.
    • 12 Cramo for 16.85 € for a yield of 4.66 %.
    • 15 Fortum for 17.55 € for a yield of 6.26 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

In order to met my goal for this month I've gone to the library and borrowed a couple of books and started reading them in parallel. It's actually good since now I'm reading more non-fiction and then it's good the be able to switch.

    Monthly goal April 2018

My goal for March was to take at least 10 000 steps each day which I failed. I missed a couple of days but the average was 11 600 steps. Something good that came out of this is that I've started running. Really slow since I've had problems earlier in myife when I increased the speed and range too quickly. I don't think I've done any yoga at all in March so I guess that was not for me. I still eat mostly vegetarian so that's a win!

In April I've decided to try to read four books. I like reading but usually don't prioritize it during the working week. So less TV and more reading. I've been to the library and borrowed some books.

Goal April: Read at least four books during the month.
Goal March: Walk at least 10 000 steps each day. Failed!
Goal February: Practice at least ten minutes of yoga each day. Done!
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food. Done!

    Income/expense March 2018

March was not only good in dividend but also my expenses was around what seems to be the lowest possible for me (I haven't really tried to spend as little as possible).

    Expenses: 8 630 SEK
    Income:  32 5300 SEK
    Savings rate: 73.28 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 12.95 %

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page.

    Dividend March 2018

New record! In March I was paid 1182 SEK. Compared to last year I received almost 380 % more. A large increase but when you account for the fact that the portfolio was probably about four times larger it is not as impressive. The dividends I received follows:
    • SDIV 30.24 SEK
    • SRET 30.63 SEK
    • SPFF 60.39 SEK
    • SDEM 16.61 SEK

    New purchase March 2018 V

As the month of March is coming to an end I've made some final purchases.
    • 8 GIS for $ 45.18 for a yield of 4.33 %.
    • 3 ABBV for $ 92.71 for a yield of 4.14 %.
    • 10 AD for 16.80 CAD for a yield of 8.43 %.
    • 11 BCE for 54.73 CAD for a yield of 5.52.
Due to my failure to reach my goal for March I've decided to talk up running. I'm starting really slow due to previous problems with knees and hips. I hope that this time I've won't get hurt, but so far it's been great getting to spend some more time outside.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    New purchase March 2018 IV

I've increase and reinvested dividens in Castellum. Deutsche Bank.
    • 20 Castellum for 133.5 SEK for a yield of 3.97 %.
A small setback when it comes to my goal for March. I've been away skiing during the weekend and I failed to walk 10 000 steps. I'm still going to continue walking and I think that my average over the month will exceed 10 000 steps.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    New purchase March 2018 III

I've increase in Deutsche Bank. I know that the yield is low, but I see it as a bit of a lottery ticket. Hopefully the stock price will appreciate and they will increase their dividend to the same level as in 2015.
    • 18 DBK for € 11.78 for a yield of 1.61 %.
I've been continuing to walk my 10 000 steps each day and it's nice. This is something that I'm going to try to continue doing.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Saturday, March 10, 2018

    New purchase March 2018 II

I've increased my position in some Nordic companies. HM has been taking a beating the last year, but I still think that it is a good long time buy. I've reinvested and then some in Kone.
    • 20 HM-B for 136.02 SEK for a yield of 7.17 %.
    • 6 KNEBV for € 41.06 for a yield of  3.4 %.
    • 12 CRA1V for € 18.75 for a yield of 4 %.
With respect to my goal it has been going great. I've averaged 11 600 step per day so I'm satisfied. I've been less tired at work, but that might also have something to do with the increase of sunlight.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Income/expense February 2018

Looking at my spending for February I've spend a bit less than January, but earn less as well.

    Expenses: 11 790 SEK
    Income:  32 540 SEK
    Savings rate: 63.77 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 4.66 %

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page

    New purchase March 2018

A new month and some new purchase.
    • 5 KHC for $ 67.47 for a yield of 3.71 %.
    • 20 GE for $ 14.53 for a yield of 2.48 %.
My goal this month is to walk at least 10 000 steps every day. So far it has been easy. I've just gotten off a couple of stops earlier on my way to work, taken a walk during lunch and then I'm done.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    New purchases February 2018

I've bought one last company in February.
    • 15 NTC for 49.98 €  for a yield of 2.4 %.
Intel is a semiconductor company, most famous for their cpus at least in the consumer segment.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Monthly goal March 2018

My goal for February was to practice at least ten minutes of yoga. I've reached this goal. It has been quite a challange to be able to find time for it every day. The biggest improvement has been that my sleep has improved after doing yoga before going to bed. Regardig my previous goal of eating vegetarian I realized that I have not bought any meat in a store this year. I've been to some restaurants and eaten some fish and meat. So I've made some changes to my life.

For March I'm going to try to take 10 000 steps each day. At an earlier job we had a contest with the goal of walking 10 000 steps and it was doable on average, but hard to do every day.

Goal March: Walk at least 10 000 steps each day.
Goal February: Practice at least ten minutes of yoga each day. Done!
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food. Done!

    Dividend February 2018

I know that the month is not over but I will not receive any more dividends. Here a list of the dividends that I've received in February.
    • SDIV 29.45 SEK
    • SRET 29.83 SEK
    • SPFF 58.81 SEK
    • SDEM 16.18 SEK
    • T 98.19 SEK
    • ABBV 28.08 SEK
    • PG 81.82 SEK
    • O 34.64 SEK
    • GIS 19.24 SEK
    • ALA 46.34 SEK
    • TD 49.43 SEK
    • EIF 27.77 SEK
    • AD 30 SEK
For a total of 549.78 SEK. The increase compared to last year was really big, but not really comparable since just started investing. Looking forward at my projected dividends this will be the worst month (given that no dividends will be cut and that the currencies are somewhat stable) along with August for 2018.

    I've joined twitter

So I've given my self a free birthday gift: I've joined twitter. I have not really used it before so we'll see how this will pan out. As a start I'm trying to automate a tweet whenever I post a blog post so if I've done it correctly my first tweet will be a link to this post.

If I manage to automate it I will update this post with instruction on how I did it :).

Update: So it was easier than I've thought to automate this. I just created an account on https://ifttt.com and added this applet. That was it. So if this is something you want to do it  is really easy.

    New purchases

    I've bought some Canadian stocks.
    • 15 GEI for 16.86 CAD for a yield of 7.83 %.
    • 6 BCE for 55.89 CAD for a yield of 5.15 %.
    • 10 ALA for 26.5 CAD for a yield of 8.15 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

I've lost a bit of energy concerning my yoga. I should probably try to be a bit more structured. The way I do it now is that I search for something like 10 minutes lower back yoga and then just do it. So for the last days of February I will try to find one video and follow that routine.

    New purchases

I've bought some German stocks since the valuation has decreased a lot since the middle of January.
    • 3 BAYN for 98.15 €  for a yield of 2.75 %.
    • 8  UN01 for 24.17 € for a yield of 2.23 %.
    • 12 DBK for $ 13.233 for a yield of 1.43 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Thursday, February 15, 2018

    New purchases

I've made some new purchases. No new companies just increasing some.
    • 4 KHC for $ 71.46  for a yield of 3.5 %.
    • 2  KMB for $ 115.21 for a yield of 3.47 %.
    • 10 T for $ 36.54 for a yield of  5.47 %.
I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

So doing yoga has made me realize how bad mobility I have in my legs and lower back. After two weeks doing yoga I don't really notice any improvement in mobility, but I have faith.

    New purchases

I've made some new purchases even though I'm a bit hesitant due to the recent downturn in stock prices.
    • 15 GE for $ 14.77  for a yield of 2.44 %.
    • 5  PG for $ 81.11 for a yield of 3.4 %.
    • 10 O for $ 48.96 for a yield of  4.79 %.
I'm thinking about holding some more cash this month, hoping that the prices will drop even more. I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

Anyway my yoga February is coming along nicely. Ten minutes yoga is a great way to start the day and it's an even better way to end the day. My sleep quality has increase which is great for me. I recommend everyone to try it. Ten minutes a day should be easy for everyone.

    Income/expense January 2018

When I summarize my spending for my vegetarian January I'm a bit disappointed. I though that I would have spent less money, but apparently I did that somehow. Anyway I'm off for a great start this year with low spending, high earnings and my best ever dividend/expense ratio.

    Expenses: 11 800 SEK
    Income:  36 600 SEK
    Savings rate: 67.76 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 5.98 %

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page

    Dividend January 2018

Here's a list of the dividends that I've received the first month of 2018.
    • SDIV 31.19 SEK
    • SRET 86.36 SEK
    • SPFF 60.29 SEK
    • SDEM 140.08 SEK
    • PEP 33.03 SEK
    • KMB 63.31 SEK
    • MO 43.27 SEK
    • PM 43.37 SEK
    • O 25.68 SEK
    • BCE 60.25 SEK
    • GEI 63.95 SEK
    • ALA 47.15 SEK
    • EIF 28.26 SEK
    • AD 30.52 SEK
    • BNS 50.51 SEK
For a total of 706.22 SEK. The year starts good. If I would've received this 2017 it would have been my third best month and compared to one year ago when I did not receive any dividend at all it is a great increase.

    Monthly goal February 2018

My goal for January was to only eat vegetarian food. It has worked out great for me. The only issue has been when I've been invited for dinner with family and friends. I don't really want to impose so I think that an all vegetarian diet will be hard for me. Anyway my plan is to continue buying vegetarian food and empty my freezer of meat.

For February I'm going to try to improve my flexibility and general well-being by practicing yoga each day. This feels more challenging since it is hard to find day for practice every day, but I'm still going to try.

Goal February: Practice at least ten minutes of yoga each day.
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food. Done!

    New purchases

    I've made some new purchases.
    • 10 GE for $ 18.22  for a yield of 1.98 %.
    • 10 ADM for $ 40.82 for a yield of 3.14 %.
    • 10 SO for $ 45.11 for a yield of  3.86 %.
    • 5 ETR:DAI for 74.51 € for a yield of 5.35 %.
I've solved the problem with not being able to get stock quotes from the Oslo stock exchange by just updating the price manually. My portfolio and as always it can be found here. I'm going to try to check for errors in my portfolio.

My vegetarian January is coming along nicely. My feeling is that I spend less money on food as well so that means more money for investing :).

    New (sort of) purchase

These purchases has been made during November, but I managed to delete my previous post where I wrote about them. Anyhow I've initiated some positions in a couple of German stocks.

    • 4 ETR:BAS for 86.14 € per share for a yield of 4.27 %.
    • 12 ETR:DBK for 14.14 € per share for a yield of 1.65 %.
    • 3 ETR:MUV2 for 191.45 € per share for a yield of 5.51 %.
    • 12 ETR:UN01 for 25.81 € per share for a yield of 2.62 %.
    • 1 ETR:BAYN for 107.95 € per share for a yield of 3.07 %.
So I bet you’re all interested in how my vegetarian January is going. It is actually great! I’ve found some new dishes to make and had an awesome Indian cauliflower stew for lunch the other day. Half of the month has passed and I’m convinced that I won’t have any problems with doing it for the rest of the month.

    Goal 2018

Since I did not meet any of my goals for 2017 I'm going to try something different for this year. I'm going to have one goal related to my dividend income and then separate goals/challenges for every month. Mostly in order to make some changes in my life. I hope that I will be able to continue with some of the things even after the month is over.

    • 24 000 SEK in projected dividend income at the end of 2018.
    • Fulfill at least 8 of the 12 monthly goals.
Goal January: Only eat vegetarian food.

    New purchase

The new year calls for a new country to invest.

With the new year I've decided to spread my investments over more countries. First up is Norway. The Norwegian economy is dominated by oil and gas which makes up 50 % of their exports.

ATEA sells and supports IT infrastructue. In my job I've come in contact with them and feel confident that they will be successful. Telenor is a telecommunicstions company that operate in a lot of different countries.

    • 20 OSE:ATEA for 119 NOK for a yield of 5.46 %.
    • 13 OSE:TEL for 187.65 NOK for a yield of 4.36 %.
I'm having trouble updating my portfolio since google does not support getting stock quotes from the Oslo stock exchange.

    New purchase

I've started the year by investing in another company Kraft Heinz which is a food company with many famous products. The company was created after a merger of Kraft and Heinz in 2015.
    • 5 O for $ 54.82 for a yield of 4.66 %.
    • 3 PM for $ 104.97 for a yield of 4.07 %.
    • 8 KHC for $ 78.49 for a yield of 3.18 %.

I've updated my portfolio and as always it can be found here.

    Income/expense December 2017

So I spent a lot of money in December, but also got a bit of a bonus.

    Expenses: 21 000 SEK
    Income:  40 900 SEK
    Savings rate: 48.66 %
    Dividend/Expense rate: 2.62 %

A summary of my savings rate can be found via this page where you can see that my total savings rate was about 50 %. My goal was 70 % so I missed by quite a lot. I guess I might have been doing a bit too much traveling (if there is such a thing). Something I've learned from missing my goals is that should set the bar a bit lower.
